Frequently Asked Questions

By default I will keep in contact though the medium I have been contacted (such as email).

My general methods of communication are Twitter (my profile can be found here for contacting), Discord’s messaging service and Telegram. But I can also be contacted though email.

Payments can be made either with Stripe or PayPal.

I accept both up-front payments and instalments. You can pay all in one go or we can agree to a regular payment plan. In either case, the job will not start until at least half the rate stated on an invoice has been paid.

I won’t start the project proper until the base feature has been paid for. This does not include discussing the project or drafting preliminary sketches to build an idea for the piece. As these are an important part in figuring out the estimate, they are complimentary.

I usually drop WIPs as I work. If I spend a day drawing or painting, I’ll send you a WIP by the evening (UTC+-0 for me).

I tend to have a few projects on the go at any one time though so I can’t always deliver every day.

A standard delivery package will include both PNGs and JPEG versions of the commissioned piece. Of those there I will include resolution versions for

  • Print resolution (300dpi)
  • 4K resolution (3860px, 144dpi)
  • HD resolution (1920px, 72dpi)
  • Low-res resolution (800px on longest side)

I’ll also bundle in a copy of your invoice and a notepad document containing any artist attributions if any form part of the composition.

Yes. By all means do so.

I am fine with my WIPS being drawn over or with other pictures overlaid. Helps a lot working out what the client wants for the final design. Highlights, additional features, stuff to move etc. I find they’re all quite helpful on the way to the final piece.

To clarify this policy is for WIPs. I might not be so open to having final pieces drawn over.

I try to ask if it’s okay to publish anything I’m working on with a client. Any work-in-progress images, streaming content or draft things I’ll try and have the client’s permission beforehand. And with publishing anything on social media (e.g. Twitter), I will take measures such as watermarking and a resolution below HD quality.

I take copyright pretty seriously so I won’t accept being paid to make art of mass media characters, places or character inserts for copyright-protected material. There are sometimes workarounds so it’s not strictly a flat no. But again working with copyright is something I’ve been rather cautious about. So sorry in advance if I have to turn down a project like an original character sharing drinks with a Marvel character, to give an example.

If the fanart is of a community character on the other hand, always ensure they’re okay with it. Just in case I need info for a brief that they might have an answer for.

I do not partake in wing tax. Sure wings can be just as complicated as an entire body but having done a few characters of my own who have wings and tails, it seems unfair to charge extra for that. They’re part of a character’s body.

I charge for dorsal/ventral views of wings on design sheets, but I consider that an extra feature like limb closeups or an alternate outfit. A character with wings will have them included on the main front view even if you’re only after the basic front and back view.

Yes you can. The way I see it, a location is a character of its own. It’s not anatomy work but I reckon I can get just as involved with the scene as I can with a figure if I am ever requested. Places have personality too, I like to think.

I even have some vistas for viewing in my gallery.
